Business Development Executive

The Ortus Group is looking to recruit a Business Development Executive with proven sales experience to complement our existing Sales Team in driving the sales of corpuls and Weinmann suite of products within the Emergency Services market. This role is suitable for those that have proven and demonstrable experience in a medical sales environment, especially those within the Emergency Services sector.

We have offices situated in Nottinghamshire, Suffolk and Clackmannanshire. This field based role will require travel throughout the UK, visiting potential and existing clients to help grow our footprint within the market. The position will involve working closely with our teams throughout the Group, but a willingness to self-manage is a prerequisite.   Our core operating hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm but the flexibility to work outside of these core hours is mandatory.

Full and detailed training will be given on all our products, and some international travel will be required to aid this and support in wider sales/ learning opportunities.


  • Plan, develop and execute on Sector Plans, achieving sales targets and creating new opportunities to grow Ortus’ market share in both the defibrillation and ventilation markets.
  • Deliver sales with both private and public sectors – working collaboratively with all whilst looking for novel and exciting opportunities where the two sectors can be aligned
  • Support in the development of a medical device leasing contract/spot hire model for new and refurbished devices, incorporating a device/ service/ consumables wrapped solution.
  • Able to identify new opportunities and undertake relevant market research activites ascertain value and present to wider stakeholders within Ortus. Able to create a strategic and tactical plan to execute on the opportunity.
  • Work with our Marketing Department to ensure we position our products/ brands with the correct messaging within the market
  • Use a solution-based sales approach to define prospective customer requirements and tailor product and support packages to their needs
  • Giving expert knowledge of our products to customers ensuring we meet their expectations at all times – matching products to their needs
  • Close sales enquiries in a timely manner to satisfy customer requests
  • Working with customer to understand wider up/cross -selling opportunities based on workflows, strategies and future aspirations
  • Work closely with our Customer Success and Clinical Application Teams to ensure all current and potential customers have a great experience when dealing with Ortus and our products.
  • Continually keep abreast of competitor developments and feedback in to the wider Sales and Senior Management Team.
  • Understand regional and national strategies/ guidelines and how they may support and aid our sales activities.

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Have at least 5 year’s proven sales experience, preferably in the medical device market
  • Proven track record of sales growth and motivated by exceeding targets
  • Market analysis and data capture through prospecting
  • Have face to face customer experience, excellent communication skills and telephone manner
  • Confident and professional with the ability to interact and engage with customers 
  • Able to create and deliver effective presentations to support sales activities
  • The ability to work independently and manage own time
  • Working knowledge of defibrillation/ monitoring and ventilation devices
  • Paramedic experience a strong advantage
